Introduction post 1 - Ashley Montijo

Who am I?

I’m Ashley, a 26 year old woman who’s a latte lover who wears her heart on her sleeve. Who loves tattoos and legos. I just started my foodie page recently you can find me on ig and TikTok at _tastewithash. I’m a currently a full time manger for two locations I’m also a full time student studying fire science. I am certified electrician, who is trying to become a fire fighter.  I’m not an activist but I do have my own views on life and politics. As a Hispanic women who engaged to another hispanic women I don’t stand with everything that’s going on with ICE, I don’t agree with the dictator of United States “Trump” and I don’t stand with racism. I have a voice and when put into a corner you will hear but I won’t go voice my opinion just because I feel some type of way. I like to sit back, listen, and watch everything unfold so I can know what’s my next move. I live by the expression “F**k it Sh*t happens” so I don’t stress over much, I just live my life for me and I’m happy with it.

This is a political street art that i see a lot and this picture screams a 1000 words as in today society we are watching ICE Agents take kids into custody without a thought in there mind of how scared these kids are going with someone else who isn't their parents.

Understanding Patriarchy Quotes:
"The contemporary presence of female-headed house hold has led many people to assume that children in these households are not learning patriarchal values because no male present." - This is basically saying a women cant raise a strong independent man that they will be soft and weak without another male present and as women we know thats a lie. We as women are more then capable of raising a man without a father figure for her sons to be strong on their own.

"Patriarchy promotes insanity. It is at the root of the psychological ills troubling men in our nation" - This shows how implanted mindset of a man needs to be strong they cant be soft or weak cause with the title of being a "BOY or MAN" is to be the loudest, strongest, and scariest without being like that you man hood is takening and your being beaten for being soft and showing feelings. This world makes monsters without even knowing it, just let a boy or a man feeling and express emotions.

Memes Are Our Generation's Protest Art Quotes:

“The media [of protest art] have changed somewhat, but the purposes are similar: the blaming of villains, the identification of victims, as well as outrage at the villains and compassion for those victims,”   - As show above protest art is showing blame and also the victims which as shown in picture two the guy behind the little boy is an ICE agent taking a kid in custody. Protest and political art paints pictures of whats really happening in the world.

"Memes can spread far more quickly than the songs or art projects of previous generations, and there’s such a low barrier to entry that anyone can make them; they can go viral in a matter of minutes."  - This is 100 percent true, memes live on and spread like a wild fire if its funny or relatable in anyway. Just like the meme on the little boy sitting on the sofa drinking something from  his cup lives rent free in my head and lives rent free during Christmas for parents when they buy the gift their kid(s) wanted.

What Memes Owe to Art History

"Memes are the democratizing medium of our collective digital present. Easy to make, easy to share; instantly recognizable and a little nonsensical; a hilarious and at times sickly-sweet jab at the world’s blunders, scandals, protests, and hypocrisies."- Making Memes is easy, as long as you have a picture you can type whatever you want just make it short and get to the point. Funny, harsh, super cute anything that will make others want to repost and use your meme for ever!

"It isn’t so much about visuals, but instead digs deep into the cultural architecture of memes and their political power as a networked critical resistance, where their abilities to incite and inspire, to problematize and be problematic in equal turn, offer a mirror image of our volatile present as much as their avant-garde heritage." - DIGG DEEP!!! Express your self someone else is feeling the same way i promise.
