All About Me
Hey everyone! my name is Jamie, I am a freshman transfer student from Montclair State University. Previously I was majoring in Fashion Design & Merchandising and now majoring in Art Therapy (might change it to communications/business) I am the middle child in my household and I am mostly known to be quiet and loud when I need to be. I am a huge girl on fashion and shopping and enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My ambitions is to work in the fashion industry, having my own business as-well. I also dream to work with huge brands and to be in a place where I have always dreamed to be at. Throughout my early experience with art, I look forward to further expand my knowledge and creativity throughout the history of art. My IG is Luvvly.Jam <3
Through my Artwork, I love to express my personality and how I see the world around me. In this art work, I depicted the mind of my younger self and how I viewed society through my eyes.. especially at a young age.

Political View and Artist -
As a young person within a society with chaos. I see myself as a strong activist upon topics that has always caught my attention such as Gun violence, Immigration, Racism, Women's Rights, School Conditions, Health care and Climate change. throughout these topics, It is something that I believe affects a lot of society and as a person of empathy and who cares about others than just myself, I believe we can do better as people especially as young people to change the world and realize we have authority to change things that hurts us. An artist that I see as an inspirational figure is Frida Kahlo. She was an artist with a strong perspective

Quotes and Response-
"Memes Are Our Generation's Protest Art
“The ability for the meme to empower and push back can be really powerful. They’re definitely sites of resistance against perceptions of abuse of power. They spread so quickly and evolve and transform, and it’s hard to shut them down in the way other forms of communicative protest can be silenced.”
With this quote, the author successfully points out the powerful use of memes, although their hilarious context are what to make us viewers laugh, it is definitely something that us viewers especially that is of a young generation could really understand in a different way than others... more easier for us to community with our voices upon things we all do not agree on.
“You can express yourself with one picture of a meme better than a whole page of text,” Alan Schaaf, the CEO of image-hosting site Imgur, told VICE. “They’re easy to create, reuse, and remix. And what makes them works so well is that they’re so relatable. They make us laugh but have the ability to connect us around a common feeling.”
With these memes, we are able to get together as a group and generation of people.. that helps us click together and stay strong onto the morals that we share and carry throughout events that has affected us as a generation. memes are something that carries the humor of a lot of us and its simply something we can use to communicate with each other.
What Memes Owe to Art History
"Through an ironic and playful treatment of a fragmented subject, memes break down high and low culture, disrupting ideas of authenticity and originality."
With this, Memes shows the originality of the thoughts of the creator of the meme. while although memes could be original, it could be stealing ideas and the authenticity of the original piece.
"Memes resist today’s norm-culture in the same way the performative turn of the 1960s disrupted Modernism."
I agree, Memes tend to be unique, out of place and out of modern ideas.. its a way to be unique, representing an idea or even a moral to share throughout a meme.. without being modern.
"Understanding Patriarchy" - Bell Hooks
"Patriarchal thinking shapes the values of our culture. We are socialized into this system, females as well as males. Most of us learned patriarchal attitudes from our families of origin. These attitudes were reinforced in schools and religious institutions,"
With
this, Author, Bell Hooks talk about patriarchy... it is the main point of our values of our culture, we are taught from beginnings throughout family and the origin of our families. in schools and even in religious places, patriarchy are heavily practiced around us.. making us aware of what we live in and how we are put into this system.
