Meme as resistance - Karla Villar

After reading bell hooks, I realized her take on men discovering or getting interested of knowing about feminism or any other "woke" politics, people will call them simps, attention seekers and that they are doing it for getting laid, and in some cases, I had witnessed women who say there is no space for them in feminism. While I agree there is certain topics such abortion that don't need men opinion and it could be concluded in "no uterus, no opinion. However, restricting the access for man who are interested into these spaces just creates more division and potential misinformation.

How can memes act as a form of resistance and advocacy?

Memes can work as an act of resistance as these can summarize visually about a situation that is occurring either locally or internationally. Thanks to the globalization of the  internet, memes can travel all around the world and sometimes can be the starting spark for somebody to do a research into what is the meme talks about.

What is Patriarchy?

Patriarchy is the system that is over us oppressing us unless you are part of the white cisgender heterosexual men elite. A system that is supported by others systems and beliefs; white supremacy and capitalism. Capitalism for example, keeps women outside of the workplace by rejecting them just because "they can get pregnant and maternity leave costs the company too much", thinking more about saving money instead for the people.
