Meme as resistance - Ashley M.

Boys have to hide behind mask to hide their feelings because crying is soft and for girls. Patriarchy at its finest.

How can memes act as a form of resistance and advocacy?
Memes can be a form of resistance and advocacy because they are easy to understand, quick to share, and relatable to a lot of people. They often use humor or sarcasm to criticize people in power, which can make serious issues feel less intimidating and more approachable. Memes can also help spread messages fast without needing news outlets or organizations, giving regular people a voice. By sharing and remixing memes, people feel connected and part of a group that cares about the same issues. Even though memes are simple, they can challenge unfair ideas, raise awareness, and encourage others to think differently or speak up.

What is patriarchy?
Patriarchy is a system where men usually have more power and control than women in society. This can show up in things like who gets paid more, who is expected to be leaders, or who makes decisions in families and governments. It also affects everyday life, like stereotypes that say boys should be strong or girls should act a certain way. Basically, patriarchy is when society is set up in a way that mostly benefits men and puts women at a disadvantage. But we are all aware who run the world... (GIRLS!)
