Global Warming & Nature
My research looks at the issue of global warming in terms of what it does to natural settings and wildlife. I used drawings and visual story telling to present how climate change is affecting animals, forests, and oceans and also how we see in it a great deal of fear and uncertainty for the life which depends on them. In my drawings the animals are depicted as scared and ready to run which is a symbol of how climate change is putting at risk their homes and survival. What I set out to do with this project was to get viewers to think about how our actions as a human species are playing a role in this and to also to leave them with a call to be more caring and responsible towards the environment.

One of my main sources of inspiration for my work was Perennial Land which is a project by artists Laia Cabrera and Isabelle Duverger. What they do is look at the relationship between nature, time, and environmental change which they present via art and story telling thus getting the viewer to think about our planet’s future. I was inspired by their approach which is to present in very engaging terms - and what I did was to take a different angle and use illustration and animation to put across the issue of the animal and eco systems’ emotional response to climate change.
Through my work in this project I aim to bring to light and also to put forward the fact that nature is fragile. Also I think that what we do which may be very small scale has in fact large scale results for the environment and that art is a great medium to use in bringing up issues of environmental protection.
