Drawing on the performance post I had submitted last week, i'd like to go in a new direction (from my midterm) for my final. I'd like to expand further on mental health and advocate for people dealing with suicidal ideations and anxiety. I want to focus on awareness, and bring to light the weight of experiencing those feelings as someone who continues to struggle with it today.

"Even if capitalism, patriarchy, and white supremacy were abolished, it wouldn’t really matter unless we are able to imagine an alternative to these structures"

Expecting change but not imagining what that can/might look like is hard. Getting rid of hurtful systems isn't always enough without having some form of idea of what can be. If you say, "I want to feel better about myself" without imagining what confidence looks like to you, you are left feeling stuck, without direction.

"We seem to spend much more of our time and attention focusing on what keeps us down instead of looking up"

It is a common thing for humans, especially with all the crazy things going on now to focus on the negative rather than positive. The noise tends to seem louder than the rest, but focusing too heavily on issues without thinking of a solution for a better future can hinder our growth. Some problems are completely out of our control however, which tends to add to the weight as well.
